Scrappy Wall Art: Make Do and Mend

(never mind the crookedy m-e-n-d!)

It was close, but this project made it through another round of SYTYC.  Phew!  Check the site Monday to see what we came up with for the "Kid's Can Do" theme.

This board was fun to make and is enormous, which made me feel so free spirited and artistic as I created it.
The process is really simple.  1.Decoupage board with fabric scraps.  (This project can be done on any scale using fabric, paper, washi tape...anything you have an abundance of).  2. Place letters or image in desired spot.  You may decide to fussy cut favorite scraps to go under the letters. 3. Paint over entire board.   Age/Distress/Add depth  Using stain, darker paints, and/or sandpaper, create dimension on your main color.   4. Embellish if desired.  5. Hang and enjoy!

I am really happy with the end product.  I have had this idea floating around for a while and wondered how successful it would be. This artwork has a new home behind my sewing table where my favorite fabrics get to remind me to be resourceful as well as patient with myself as a creator.
